The Role

Thriving in this role requires both managerial and technical skill. You will write and review code daily. You will manage priorities and work streams in an environment that moves and changes very quickly. You will work on an existing and evolving application, extending it as the market dictates, and cleaning it up as technical debt demands. The application is AWS based, and uses mix of PostgreSQL, NodeJS, Shell, Go, Python, and a few other bits.

We work in an office near Arboretum in Austin TX. This is an on-site job, and remote is not an option.

We operate by "contentious consensus". That means we disagree openly and at times forcefully in order to surface the best ideas. We strive to be hard on ideas and soft on people, and usually succeed. We make decisions fast, and expect everyone to align around them. And when those decisions prove wrong we revisit them.

This is not a standard enterprise Director of Engineering role. We are a small, high-powered company, and everyone here wears multiple hats. If you manage people but do not actively code, this is not the role for you. If you code but do not manage people, this is not the role for you. We need an unusual combination of breadth and depth, of hard and soft skills, of coding chops and management prowess. If this still sounds like the role for you, please consult our tech blog to get a better sense of our stack and how we think about tech, and look at our API documentation to see how we interface with partners and clients.

This role is complex and broad; best if you have been there and done that. We are looking for greatness in both coding and leadership. If that's you, apply now and join the team shaping the future of private investment!
